Hello We're a new Meetup Group - London Lesbian Singles 30s-50s. www.meetup.com/Meetuplls/We started on 5th Jan 2014 and since then almost 200 women who identify with our 4 profile points have signed up. We team up to go to events and also organise our own singles nights. E.g. We do a Cocktails or Mocktails social with greeters to help you mix. Our first two attracted 60 singles each. Our next is on: Friday 2nd May Join us? If you are anything like us then: 1. You have wonderful friends who are coupled off and nesting at home. 2. You like dating websites but would rather meet people in person before deciding if you want a friendship, relationship or anything else! 3. You'd rather not turn up to places where you are the only single arriving alone. 4. Oh, and you can be a bit shy sometimes so you want a supportive and non judgemental environment where anyone can chat to anyone and it's ok. Look forward to meeting you (Nosyparker aka Friendly on Gingerbeer)

Where is that Fluffypants. I'd be happy to talk you through how I set it up if you wanted to set something up in your area?

I had the same worry. Within a few days we were 50. By two weeks 100 and so on.
I just needed about 20 of us. I think a lot of women feel the same. Go for it!

I managed to gather a group of six for a meet-up in York through pink sofa but admit that I haven't got round to organising the second event.
6 was an achievement for me, yet to work properly there needs to be more people and I need to advertise much wider which I found quite daunting.

York is so small I can't imagine a weekly event working but mostly perhaps.

Hi Duncancan
Yes I understand that feeling. I did feel exposed at first. I just kept thinking about how great it would feel to find a group. I bet those 6 people thanked you and it's a base to grow from.
I recruited my first few as assistants and we met up to plot how to grow the group.
Stick at it! I'm all for women organising free nights for ourselves. A lot of women are so York will thank you in the long run.

Amazing event. We had 60 singles over 30 years playing our human bingo game and sipping cocktails. We are planning another for July so watch this space!
