I told my kids that they had to have a proper homemade tea tonight & that I wasn't cooking two different things ✋🏻
So she's having tomato soup & he's having beans on toast 😬

Despite initial protests, my kids happily ate the rest of the slow cooker beef that I'd frozen. I left it until 5.45pm to feed them though, I think I might do that again - starve them out!

Good luck with that! She makes an amazing lemon chicken but I've tried to get the recipe off her for years. She guards it with her life. I reckon it would be easier to get the Coca Cola recipe.
She's very secretive about her cooking.

went to a local restaurant but they were having issues with their kitchen equipment so were closed - ended up at Prezzo, their direct competitor. Had a lovely meal, crab bites, goats cheese al forno and choc fudge cake.

It makes me smile when I read instructions like "rub in fats", I often think virtually no-one of my generation or younger uses language like that anymore!

The recipe said to use 'lard or fat' - you'd never ever get that these days! Do they even still sell blocks of lard in the shops? Today, we had slow cooker pork, mashed potatoes, cauliflower cheese, and mange tout. We ran out of tamari for the pork, but it still tasted great. (I added BBQ sauce instead )

^ The Be-Ro book is a socio-economic document as much as a recipe book. It's all about making nourishing meals from limited ingredients, two rashers of bacon to feed a family of 6! They change bits of it from time to time, but my mother, gran and I each have one relative to our generation and it's fundamentally the same. I find the simple recipes in there - for sponge, pastry, basic sauces - are just foolproof. I remember making things from the Be-Ro book with my mum and gran and now I'm making the same things with my two
