Herefordshire Rainbow Forum have successfully secured funding from the Big Lottery to run a FREE, national, one-day conference to address the issue of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans invisibility in society. The conference, entitled Visibly Invisible, is on Tuesday 24 May, 9am-4.15pm at The Courtyard Centre for the Arts in Hereford. Confirmed speakers include; · Louise Carolin, Deputy Editor of DIVA magazine, talking about Bisexuality. · Sue Sanders of School’s Out, talking about LGBT issues in schools. · Vernal Scott, former Equality and Diversity Manager for the London Borough of Islington, talking about multiple identities. · Joan King of the Gender Trust, talking about Trans invisibility. · Val Thorpe, Diversity Manager for Lloyds Banking Group, talking about the importance of Diversity Champions and “Straight Allies”. Workshops on the day are; * Monitoring – for and against * Same-sex domestic abuse * Community groups * LGBT victims of crime Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
