Yes.. I've thought about renting it out. It says on the paperwork that I'm not allowed to but if I do it privately then I'll hopefully not get caught.
I'm going over for a week in sept. was going to make it 2 but I decided to save some leave so I can go over in December. Going to try and swing Christmas so im gearing up for a fight with my boss. I've decided that if she's going to be a b*tch about it then I'm going over her head.

merc, you have a plan and that's good...and i would certainly take it further with the big bosses if you don't get any joy

mum's not eating or drinking, she's refusing medication, she's calling for dad again and she really has had enough. I hate it that she has to carry on suffering when we don't let animals suffer. It's like animals are more important.
She's told me she's giving up. Why won't her body let her? Why do we have to keep it going when it's failing so badly?

well the wheels are in motion for me to go keytime, working 3 days a weeks and then up to my folks for 3-4 days. Its a better option than having a sabbatical as at least i'll only lose 40% of my salary.
my dad is now very frail, he has gone downhill very quickly in the last 3 months. He is not in pain but has become very timid about going out.
My dad, the artist, the writer, the poet, the most interesting storyteller, my hero. I didnt realise how much i love and respect him.

S.O. you won't regret a moment of this time. I found it was useful to keep work going because then it gives you another focus, you have to think about something else as well as the family situation.
Try to get some video footage. It might be hard to compare how he is now with older stuff but I find it really nice now to watch back for dad's voice and his mannerisms.

he's been offered a place at respite tomorrow for 2 weeks, he's scared to go because he thinks he wont see his home again. And my mum's been out all day so he cant even talk to her about it. she's gonna freak
Thanks Betty and Keebs, my dad wont want me filming him, he has become so embarrassed at how thin he is.

Oh SO that is so awful. I'm glad you're going to have this time and opportunity to spend mote time with him while not leaving your job. I hope everything will fall into place for you as easily as it can.

betty - it will settle down. It might take a bit of time, but it will get better.

I hope so, it's taking it's toll on all of us. I've seen 4 care homes today and there's more to see in the morning.
they want me to make the decision because they don't want the responsibility. it's bloody draining.
