That would cost them more than they'd gain.

I guess... I agreed to not talk about it with my OH for a few weeks to give myself a bit more perspective, hopefully.

Yeah. I think that time out and a peaceful head often helps these things. I work in homelessness services, hate loathe and detest it, but don't have the balls to resign because the jobs market is so dire at the moment. Shifts and weekend working are making any semblance of outside life impossible and I need out. So aye, I hope things work out for you.

It is really hard to look for other stuff when you're stuck in the day to day grind - especially if you're working odd hours. At least my office hours are 9-5, although you never really switch off.
Thanks for listening and being a sounding board - things get quite emotional here so it's good to get an unbiased perspective

Signed off for two more weeks. Tablets seem to be kicking in (less the side effects now) in that I now just feel flat most of the time. Still having real problems sleeping - has anyone ever tried any relaxation techniques that have worked?

White noise works for me.. I have it set to rain sounds or storm sounds.. Can't sleep without it.

i find having a radio on helps me unwind and turn off so i can fall asleep...i need talk and not music cos this really stimulates me and brings me awake instantly
when i've had really low times and i can't turn my mind off, radio talk shows helped pass the nights...

Well, my OH is pretty much living in the other bedroom now so I can have the radio on as much as I like, so that is helping pass the time at least.
Today has been frustrating, I keep thinking I'm starting to feel kind of okay, and then I have a day when I feel really shit for no obvious reason. My skin has felt like it is crawling all day. I am so so tired, but I can't even doze off for short periods during the day, and I'm still only getting a few hours each night. If it weren't for my dog I don't know what I'd have done today - I've been a gibbering wreck as it is. I'm getting so pissed off at myself for feeling like this

Sorry you're still feeling crap, the ups and downs are hard to deal with. Lack of sleep doesn't help it either. I have a load of info about relaxation and stress management - for myself I found the tense/relax method best and also visual imagery. I'll post the info on here tomorrow when I get chance, as I won't be able to get it at the moment. You'll get there ((hugs))

AARRGGHH!! I hate this. How do I go from such a good day yesterday to a bloody panic attack in the bakers. Currently sitting in the car trying to breathe so I can get home.

I was diagnosed with depression last month... still feels a bit strange getting used to the fact that the Dr's have now at last recognised it as depression and not just anger management issues like they did back in Croydon.
Still coming to terms with it, sometimes it hits me and I just feel really odd and lethargic, other times I'm totally fine. Either way, it's sorta new to me and hard to explain to a line manager who just doesn't get it!

Hi Rambo,
sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Are you being offered any support/treatment?
hang in there

Hiya, I've had my Fluoextine upped to 2 a day (was originally on it to calm the rage!). And I'm currently on a 3 month waiting list for counselling! My work are sort of OK, certain people aren't understanding at all and frustrate me when they question when I'm off work and having a down day, but I try my hardest to not let it get to me. OH is being very supportive which is obviously nice

Thats great that your OH is supportive. We have one clinic here that you can self refer to, and they charge on a sliding scale according to your income - might be worth exploring the area for something similar if you feel you need to access counselling sooner.
